From Secretary’s Desk
Atbati Vivekananda Siksha Niketan was built up with a noble Mission to inculcate among the learners the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and spread the same among the staff, parents and guardians as well as the people in general. Our missions to let thousands of buds blossom into complete flowers. His life is the message, his teaching are the invaluable lessons to all of us. His Message is still relevant and will remain the same for many years to come.
One hundred and fifty years ago from today on 12 January 1863, Swami Vivekananda was born in Calcutta (Now Kolkata). He had ignited a spiritual fire across the nation and the globe. That fire still burns and will burn for all ages to come. Swamiji’s ultimate message was: Each soul is potentially divine, and religion is the manifestation of divinity already in man. This divinity is manifested when one treats with love and compassion. A few pronouncements delivered by him in the World Parliament of Religions on 11 September, 1893 are worthy to note: “I am proud to belong to a nation which has sheltered the persecuted and refugees of all religions”. This is India’s culture. He said,
“What India needed was not religion, but bread.” Let us dedicate ourselves to spread love, eschew hatred and provide bread to the hungry.
